Appearing in Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct, the action-adventure shooter Strange Brigade is back a year later with a different release. For 2021, it was a digital drop on the Nintendo eShop once the Direct was over. As for 2022, it’s a standard and SteelBook physical release courtesy of Super Rare Games.

Set: Egypt, the 1930s. You are one of the Strange Brigade, a daring group of heroes and explorers about to set off on a journey. Erased from ancient history and buried in a nameless tomb for 4,000 years, Seteki the Witch Queen has risen once again, and only you and your friends stand a chance against her and her army of mummified monstrosities. Bring out your inner adventurer in this thrilling third-person action shooter, playable both solo and in 2-4 player online and local wireless co-op!

Available to order on Thursday, June 30th at 10 a.m. PT | 1 p.m. ET, Strange Brigade will be available as a standard release (limited to 3,000 copies) and SteelBook edition (limited to 2,000 copies).

Regardless of which edition you pick up, you’ll get the following: Strange Brigade’s current build (as of May 2022) on a Nintendo Switch cart, a full-color manual, a case that includes a cover with interior artwork, an exclusive sticker, and a pack of trading cards (3 cards per pack). For those who get the SteelBook edition, the only difference is the added addition of the SteelBook case and a postcard. Yup, that’s right, you’ll get the standard edition case too! As for prices, the standard edition is $35.57 and the SteelBook edition is $50.91. Both are also available in bundles with two upcoming releases from Super Rare Games too! Sadly, this physical release doesn’t include the multiple DLC packs. Those additional digital-only packs can be purchased via the Nintendo eShop.

As I previously mentioned, Strange Brigade has been available on the Nintendo Switch for a year, albeit digitally. Released on other consoles, some special additions were made to the Nintendo Switch version. These include the following:

  • Local Play – Includes 2-4 player local wireless play
  • Online Play – 2-4 player online co-op
  • Enhanced Controls – Motion Controls, HD Rumble and Pro Controller support
  • Technical Enhancements – Dynamic Resolution Switching for smooth 30fps gameplay. Running up to 1080p on TV and 720p handheld
  • Achievements – Achievements with in-game tracking screen
  • Friend Invites – Send invites to online and offline friends

Interested? Make sure to set a reminder for Thursday, June 30th at 10 a.m. PT | 1 p.m. ET and get your order in only at Super Rare Games. Once all 5,00 copies are gone, you’ll be limited to picking up Strange Brigade via the Nintendo eShop or coming across a physical copy on the second-hand/reseller market.
