It turns out the people of Great Britain really want to get some virtual exercise in — Nintendo Switch Sports is the number one seller in the UK this past week. While not quite as big a hit as Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort so far (which is kinda like saying the Book of Mormon doesn’t sell as well as the Old and New Testaments), it’s had a notably better launch than similar Switch games: selling more than double Mario Party Superstars, almost eight times as much as Just Dance 2022, and more than six times as much as Ring Fit Adventure did during their launches. Those games had long tails in terms of sales, so we’ll have to see if NSS is similarly successful in the long run — though I think it’s relatively safe to assume.

The rest of the chart is business as usual by and large. After three weeks at number one, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga got knocked down to number two. Perennial titans Pokémon Legends: Arceus (#5), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (#6), and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (#10) are still around, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land fought its way back into the top ten this week by nabbing the #9 spot. Half of the games in the top ten being Nintendo hits is surely a good sign for the company. We’ll see just how long that dominance lasts.
