Believe it or not (and I personally cannot — TIME IS FAKE), it’s been five years since the release of Yooka-Laylee in 2017. To celebrate and mark the occasion, developer Playtonic has released a celebratory video shouting out the game’s fan community — artists, musicians, and speedrunners — and announcing goodies throughout the day.
Today's the day our buddy-duo turns 5!
🎉 Happy 5 years Yooka-Laylee 🎉
We have some exciting things planned throughout the day, so make sure you check back for some surprises! 👀#YookaLayleeversary #YookaLaylee pic.twitter.com/Uo6sbVgueJ

First up is celebration art drawn by Steve Mayles himself:
It wouldn't be an anniversary without some snazzy art!!

And also a brand-new sweepstakes to win a Switch + Yooka-Laylee bundle, with runners-up just receiving the Yooka-Laylee bundle (which contains an anniversary pin, Steam code for Yooka-Laylee, and Switch code for the Impossible Lair):
To celebrate Yooka-Laylee’s 5 year anniversary we’re doing an epic giveaway!

The devs are also celebrating amongst themselves with some good, old-fashioned sheet cake. Even if not everybody is cutting it “correctly”:

There’s still a slim chance of even more being announced before the day is over, so we’ll be sure to update with any new and pertinent info if it comes out. Who knows, we may just see what the dev team has been up to for the past couple years.
