While the internet is always fixated on character reveals for Super Smash Bros., I personally find indie crossovers to be just as, if not more, interesting — they’re always out of left field by comparison. Such is the case with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which has added its third (er, fourth) playable character: Aurora from Ubisoft’s Child of Light. Who expected that?

Aurora has abilities similar to her original game, wielding the Sword of Matildis and accompanied by her wispy light knight Igniculus, who will act on his own to slow enemies or heal Aurora. As she progresses through the game, Aurora will grow older and gain access to new abilities (again, much like Child of Light proper) to access more of the castle.

Aurora is being added as an absolutely free update. She’s dropping tomorrow, March 31st, on most platforms, but will take a bit longer to release on Switch — the developers haven’t given a solid release date for that yet, but with all hope it will be on the console before long.
