Once again Koei Tecmo is releasing a game for Switch that’s somehow a sequel to two games at once. Just like Hyrule Warriors before it, Fire Emblem Warriors is getting a followup that’s also something of a sequel to (or at least a new chapter of) a previous game — in this case, Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

This return to Fódlan began today’s Nintendo Direct and will bring back Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude in a new way. Interestingly, the trailer showed off new designs for the characters that seem somewhere between their academy and five-years-later war looks. Whether this is “canon” or a part of a specific route remains to be seen, but there’s a chance this could occur during the gap between those two timeframes. Byleth’s presence makes that slightly less likely, but for what it’s worth, I never would’ve guessed Age of Calamity’s own temporal shenanigans.

Whatever the case may be, new characters are also on the way, and it’s likely we haven’t seen the full roster of playable characters. More of the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deer are just begging to be a part of something like this and hopefully display a little more moveset variety than the previous FEW.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will charge into battle on Nintendo Switch on June 24th.
