After securing stellar critical reception and the biggest launch in the series’ history, Shin Megami Tensei V is closing in on another well-deserved milestone. According to Famitsu, the latest entry in the core SMT series has passed 800,000 units sold already, closing in on that coveted million seller mark.

Atlus shared the news as part of an annual New Year’s card/statement to the Japanese publication, as reported by Game Informer. They also shared that a new project is in the works, though fine details weren’t given. Still, that this Switch exclusive would become the highest grossing in the series speaks both to the growth of MegaTen as a brand and Nintendo’s continued success with their latest console.
