Thunder Lotus’ 2021 plans have been all about releasing free DLC for their hit, Spiritfarer. Released in three batches, today we get the game’s “Summer 2021” update, aptly named after a new spirit you’ll encounter. Welcome to the Beverly Update.
Making the announcement today on their social media accounts, Thunder Lotus also shared a trailer (posted above) and the complete patch notes for the update. Once installed, you’ll be able to meet Beverly, “a tiny owl found in Oxbury”, have up to three save slots, access to new features, quality of life improvements, and narrative improvements. What didn’t make this update, unfortunately, are changes to Gustav’s story. Thunder Lotus promised in a tweet that these changes will be made available in a later patch.
In addition to today’s update, iam8bit has one concerning their physical release of the game. A standard edition physical release was made available last month, yet iam8bit mentioned in the initial announcement that a collector’s edition was in the works. Today, they’re ready to not only show off Spiritfarer’s Collector’s Edition, but also starting to accept pre-orders.
Priced at $199.99, this Collector’s Edition is available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Other than including the game, iam8bit has recreated the Everlight to a 1:1 scale and lights up. Place it lit inside the special box, and you have a working lantern to display. More physical goodies include a postcard and stamp set and recipe cards. There are two digital items you’ll receive as well – a soundtrack and a 96-page art book.

Currently, iam8bit is planning for these Collector’s Editions to ship in Q1 2022. For those who’d prefer to have a physical soundtrack instead of digital, iam8bit is also producing a 2xLP vinyl soundtrack priced at $39.99 and shipping in Q2 2022.
