Writing your own creative stories can be tricky. There are characters to invent, tropes and conventions to consider, literary genres to choose from, and so much more. What if you could take that creative process and turn it into a video game? That’s what Storyteller, one of many titles shown off in today’s Annapurna Interactive Showcase, aims to do.

Described as a narrative puzzle game, you’ll be tasked to craft stories from a set number of assets (i.e.: settings, characters, and emotions) that must match a particular theme or direction. Watch how it works in the trailer below:

KEY FEATURES

  • Play with a library full of characters and themes, featuring heroes and villains, dragons and vampires, infidelity and remorse, love, lies, madness, and more!
  • Use the blank canvas to manipulate secrets and desires, slay monsters or terrorize people with them, betray lovers or bring them together. You know how the stories go — but this time you are the author.
  • Charming animations and comic-panel design allows for a unique puzzle mechanic. Use your wits to retell iconic tales — or experiment and find something new.

The release date for Storyteller has yet to be penned, yet we know the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch.
