Being an HD re-release of a Wii game, it’s reasonable to assume that when Sonic Colors Ultimate releases it’d be buttery smooth to match its lead’s fancy footwork. A previously released Colors Ultimate spotlight trailer included confirmation of the game running at 60 fps among more upgrades and updates for this release.

That same trailer has now been uploaded to Nintendo’s own YouTube channel, though with one main difference:

While “re-vamped lighting” and “improved graphics” are constants in the text boxes that appear at about the 0:13 mark in both versions of the trailer, the Switch specific one removes both “4K resolution” and “60 fps”. All others were identical, but for anyone keen to see the fastest thing alive with a framerate to match should be aware.

That said, being a big handheld fan is still pushing me to anticipate the Switch release over other consoles. You can make that choice for yourself when Sonic Colors Ultimate releases on September 7th.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
