The current Yu-Gi-Oh anime series and card game series (Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS and Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel) are following the franchise’s footsteps by adding a video game to its media checklist. Details about Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Saikyou Battle Royale!!, which was announced in March, is slowly being shared by Konami. With a scheduled Japanese release date of Thursday, August 12th, more information is being shared including pre-order bonuses.

Posted on the game’s official site, three physical Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards are being offered if you pre-order the game. This is standard for the series (pre-order or buy the game’s first print run), but what isn’t is the mention of amiibo cards.

Outside of the game’s official website, the game’s official Twitter account has only mentioned the amiibo functionality twice. The first was in a tweet posted on April 16th, mentioning that an “early reservation bonus amiibo card” would be available to those who pre-ordered the game. The same wording was used on a tweet posted on April 20th, as that’s when pre-orders for the game opened.

Luckily, a press release available at PR Times has more concrete details about these amiibo cards. A total of seven cards (including one secret type) will focus on characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. So far, six of the amiibo cards are confirmed to feature the following characters: Yuga Oudou, Tatsuhisa “Luke” Kamijō, Gakuto Sōgetsu, Romin Kirishima, Roa Kirishima, and Nail Saionji. These six characters are all present in the game’s key art below:

From top left to right: Kaizo (robot), Nail, Gakuto, Romin, and Roa. From middle left to right: “Luke”, unknown (playable main character for the game?), and Yuga.

As for what these cards will do in-game, they’ll unlock customization options related to the Duelist Avatar, Card Sleeves, Deck Cases, Duel Fields, and play voice-acted lines from the specific character that was scanned. How these cards are being distributed is, well, reminiscent of Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball’s amiibo cards. You’ll get only one of the seven cards at random when you pre-order the game.

There are no official plans for a western release of Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Saikyou Battle Royale!! yet, and, hopefully, Konami will at least offer the amiibo cards outside of the pre-order promotion. We’ll keep you wired in for any future updates!
