A recent Resident Evil Showcase presentation gave fans a deeper look at the number of projects related to the horror series that are currently in the works, including the upcoming CG-animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The Showcase confirmed that the show will launch on Netflix in July 2021.
Unlike the quick and quiet teaser trailer last year, this time we hear dialogue from protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, portrayed by Resident Evil 2 remake actors Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello. Claire runs into Leon at the White House and presents him a picture, mentioning its resemblance to the zombie outbreak at Raccoon City. The following footage shows the building without lighting, with Leon protecting President Graham as he and Claire fight off zombies in the dark.
Following the premiere of the trailer, Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi teased that President Graham, the father of Resident Evil 4’s Ashley, is just one of many “other characters [that] will make an appearance” in the series. Here’s hoping that we’ll see Leon run into Ada once again, or perhaps even other Resident Evil icons such as Jill or Chris will make a cameo.
For more on Infinite Darkness, additional plot details were revealed by the Resident Evil Portal last month.
