Following the recent news of voice actors Roger Craig Smith and Cindy Robinson retiring from their respective roles as Sonic and Amy Rose, it was easy to assume that it was Sega making the call; after all, with Sonic’s 30th anniversary now only a few spin-dashes away, an overhaul of the franchise seemed reasonable. In light of this, fans feared the worst when it was confirmed that Colleen O’Shaughnessey would not return to voice Tails in the upcoming animated series Sonic Prime, but she has since confirmed that she’s not through with the character yet.

When a fan recently reached out to O’Shaughnessey on Twitter saying they were sad to see her go, she put minds at ease with her response.

She also reaffirmed that she will not be joining the Sonic Prime voice cast, seemingly because it is a Canadian production and Canadian labor laws complicate American actors being involved.

It’s worth noting that O’Shaughnessey reprised her role for Tails’ cameo at the end of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and we have yet to hear if that role has been recast.

O’Shaughnessey isn’t the only one sticking around, as Mike Pollock recently insisted,“You’ve not yet heard the last of me as Dr. Eggman in Sonic the Hedgehog video games!”
