It’s been a cracking month for video game historians, with prototypes of NES classic DuckTales and the Nintendo 64 version of Star Fox Adventures (formerly known as Dinosaur Planet) surfacing online. This week’s discovery is a cancelled Nintendo DS game based on Peter Molyneux’s 2001 PC title Black & White.

Black & White: Creatures was a pet simulation spinoff of the god game series, and game preservation group PtoPOnline has uploaded 14 minutes of gameplay of the unreleased title (with the source of the prototype credited to Twitter user @SuperDarkMimeIV). The video description notes, “It’s an early build, even clicking on the menu options can be tough.”

The gameplay sees the player feeding and caring for a tiger-like creature in what appears to be the game’s opening tutorial, before teaching it to throw items and build a home.
