Yesterday saw Sega’s blue blur arrive in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 as a playable character. It isn’t the first time Sonic’s dealt with Puyo popping, but it is the first time he’s gotten this kind of full treatment and fit in with the rest of the cast.

Want even more proof? How about this sweet piece of art from Mark Hughes (@thesketchsector) that was shared on the official Puyo Puyo Twitter.

It’s not the first time Hughes has illustrated something for Puyo Puyo, but seeing Sonic speed into Primp Town holding a Puyo shaped like his own head is both a little surreal and totally fitting. He’s not alone though, as fellow update additions Lidelle, Ms. Accord, and the Ocean Prince get to witness his arrival – as long as they don’t blink.

You can pick up Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and this free update now. It’s currently on sale as part of Nintendo’s eShop New Year’s sale, and can also be found on Playstation and Xbox consoles. A Steam release (and more free updates) are on the way soon.
