UPDATE: As reported by Gematsu, Banjo-Kazooie and Blast Corps will not be released for the Wii U in Japan today, and Nintendo of Japan apologizes for the “error”.

During Banjo & Kazooie’s Mr. Sakurai Presents video, the Super Smash Bros. creator joked about how B&K could only be found on Xbox consoles now. If Nintendo’s own Japanese release calendar is to be believed, though, that may change very soon.

Shared by Gematsu, scrolling down to December 30th will show listings for not just Banjo-Kazooie, but fellow Rare Nintendo 64 title Blast Corps. If that weren’t odd enough, they’re slated for release on the Wii U’s Virtual Console, and they’re set for December 30th – today in Japan.

Microsoft Japan is appropriately listed with them, though trying to follow the links leads to error pages. While there’s currently no indication that you should be dusting off your Wii U to potentially download these, it would be an interesting move if these N64 titles actually do make a Nintendo-console return.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
