As summer transforms into fall, Nintendo is keeping the North American Open tournament events coming! This coming weekend it’s all about ARMS, but from Friday, October 9th, through Sunday, October 11th, it’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s time to shine again.
Nintendo of America made the announcement on Twitter today, tweeting out some of the details and the required legalese:
Rev up your B Dasher and get ready for the #MarioKart NA Open October 2020 on 10/9-10/11 from 12pm PT to 6pm PT each day! The top 8 eligible racers each day of the tournament will win 2,500 My Nintendo Gold Points to redeem on Nintendo eShop.https://t.co/iD6Q4kI4Up pic.twitter.com/2BJBAOFy2S

Visit the Nintendo Events’ site linked in the initial tweet, and you’ll find the tournament ID codes for each individual day:
- Oct. 9: 2939-8064-9003
- Oct. 10: 4647-0559-9019
- Oct. 11: 0754-0707-8955
For complete rules, you can read the fine on the site as well as read the four-page PDF file that’s mentioned (age restrictions, only for American and Canadian residents, etc.).
After the competition, winners will be notified on/around Friday, October 23rd, and will be awarded their prizes after verifying eligibility. 2,500 ($25) isn’t too bad of a prize for showing your drifting skills in 24 races.
Interested in competing? It’s time to practice on 150cc mode with normal items and all vehicles (no smart steering allowed, though). Good luck to all who enter!
