Thanks to some leaked emails, we got an early glimpse of an exciting, highly anticipated event in Pokémon GO regarding a certain duo. Forget Professor Willow, the Team Leaders, and us Pokémon Trainers. There’s a bigger annoyance to Team GO Rocket’s head honcho. And sorry, Giovanni, but your luck has run out at avoiding a particular set of members.

Yes, Meowth, that’s right!

If you were upset that a particular Meowth head-shaped hot air balloon wasn’t floating around in Pokémon GO, then don’t fret any longer. Jessie, James, and Meowth are crashing Team GO Rocket’s latest scheme and are ready to challenge you to a Pokémon battle! Initially spotted in the game’s code back in May, it’s time to surrender now or prepare to fight. Starting on Thursday, July 9th, look out for the iconic vessel and be ready to battle Jessie or James!

Thanks to fellow Trainers posting online, Jessie and James will function similarly to Team GO Rocket grunts and will have some of their Pokémon partners, but in Shadow Pokémon form. Plus, if you’re lucky enough, the shadow Pokémon you can encounter after securing a win might just be a shiny Ekans or Koffing

Lastly, do you want to take your Team “OG” Rocket love further? Head over to the in-game shop. For free, Jessie and Jame’s Team Rocket outfits are available for your avatar to wear. You’ll find the outfit in the “Tops” category, and each suit is tied to your avatar’s gender.

Niantic isn’t saying how long Jessie, James, and Meowth will be sticking around, so go log in and don’t miss out before they’re blasting off again!
