For a few hours on March 27th, a survey was open to allow fans who qualified to provide feedback on one of my favorites from Sega or any developer — Puyo Puyo. This was handled by an outside firm on the official Puyo Puyo Twitter for North America (an account that sadly doesn’t tweet too often) and was closed off after a few hours.

Though it met capacity already, the fact that it happened at all shows that Sega is taking Puyo Puyo’s presence in North America seriously. As a series it’s beloved in Japan, and it’s undeniable it’s grown outside of its home since the localization of Puyo Puyo Tetris. Multiple titles are available on Nintendo Switch alone, though there are definite gaps in its release history outside Japan.

While it’s too soon to say what could be in the works for this cute, competitive puzzle series, it’s good to know that something could hard drop here in the future.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
