The Nintendo Power Podcast has revealed how players can unlock Isabelle in their Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands when the game launches later this month: by upgrading the Resident Services building a certain number of times.

The information was revealed in the February 28th, 2020 episode of the Nintendo Power Podcast, featuring guests Kristen Copeland and Bill Hutchens from Nintendo Treehouse.

“I really want Isabelle, and so that’s going to be my other goal — is getting Isabelle on my island as fast as I can,” Copeland says at around 13:28.

“That’s right, because you have to upgrade that one location enough times to where it’s finally in the bigger form that Isabelle will appear,” host Chris Slate says.

“The Resident Services building, yeah,” Copeland answers.

Isabelle had been confirmed to appear in the game early on during New Horizons’ development news cycle; last summer, it was said she would appear based on players’ progress.

Most recently, Isabelle has been spotted during demo footage from PAX East 2020, working in her role at the Resident Services building.

Those interested in hearing a clear-quality sample of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ soundtrack can scrub to 35:38 in the above video — the podcast plays what’s presumably one of the game’s 24 hourly songs.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches worldwide for Nintendo Switch on March 20th, 2020.
