It’s been eight years since the latest installment in the Contra series, Hard Corps: Uprising, grazed our face holes with classic, arcade bullet hell mayhem. That all changed this morning during Nintendo’s E3 Direct, where we learned a brand new canonical entry in the Contra series would be blasting onto Switch this September!

Eschewing more traditional side-scrolling, Contra: Rogue Corps blends a top-down perspective with third-person, behind-the-shoulder action to deliver one heck of a crazy looking experience. Set following the events of Contra III: The Alien Wars, players slip on the butt-kicking boots of various members of Rogue Corps – from steroid riddled muscle men with drills for arms to genetically enhanced panda bears – as they mow down wave after wave of alien invaders for fame and glory. Best of all, and in typical series fashion, you can play the entire campaign solo or together with friends both locally and online.

Of course, those who can’t wait to enlist in the war to come can pick up the Contra Anniversary Collection – a 10-game collection of Contra’s finest – right now in the Nintendo eShop!

Consider yourself a hero? Be sure to join the fight when Contra: Rogue Corps run ‘n guns on Nintendo Switch September 24, 2019.
