For the neon aficionados, pixel-art assassins, and wannabe samurais out there, this game is for you. Katana ZERO is an intense action game where you play as an assassin known only as The Dragon, who hacks and slashes his way through level after level of henchman and security system. Here’s the catch: you die in one hit, forcing you to pull of an intense level of John Wick style flashiness from hitting bullets back at enemies to hurling pottery at them in order to successfully picture — and then execute — the correct way to move forward.

I actually played Katana ZERO at Pax West last year, where I had to keep it under wraps, and I’m excited to see it finally unveiled for Nintendo Switch. The unique combination of intense high-octane gameplay and tactical-preparation makes this game fall in the rare genre of action-puzzler, which — combined with a story where there are narrative choices and consequences — lends itself to a delightfully deep experience.
