How to fix Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp startup issues | Nintendo Wire

Yesterday, after Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp’s maintenance, not all camp managers were able to start up the app. Here at Nintendo Wire, we received multiple comments from players mentioning various errors they received when trying to boot up the game.

If you’re getting a red, black, or blue screen, or you’re being told to update the app, there’s a workaround fix that’s been posted on Pocket Camp’s website. Just follow these five easy steps:

iPhone customers who are experiencing the above problem may be able to resolve it using the following process.

1. Within iOS, tap Settings > General > Language & Region > Other Languages.
※ If you have already added another language, tap “Add Language.”
2. Tap one of the displayed languages to add a checkmark and select “Done.”
3. When prompted “Would you like to change the iPhone language to (selected language)” select “Keep English.”
4. “Setting Language…” will briefly display.
5. After the language has finished updating, please restart the game.

    I tried this workaround and I’m still not able to access the game. I still get the red, black, or blue screen when I try to start Pocket Camp.

    This is so disheartening. I haven’t missed a single day since launch.

    It has not helped me be able to start the game. It did get rid of the blue screen. It takes me to the page where you usually hit start, but it does not day hit start and I am flipped right back to the icon on my phone. I have an IPhone 8.

    This didn’t work for me. I am no longer getting the blue/red screen, but now it goes to the opening screen (with the trees & camper) and immediately turns to a black screen. I have tried everything, including updating my phone, reinstalling the app (I have a linked Nintendo account), and restarting my phone.

    After I launch the game and I click “Tap to start!”, it acts like it’s loading but then the app just closes. I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled but it is still doing the same thing. I am using a Samsung Active Android 7.0, if that matters.

    This worked for me, but instead of choosing keep english, I choose a different english and let it change the setting, now it’s working perfectly! Thank you!

    I changed my language to Russian, opened the app, did the update, changed my language back to english and it works fine.

    It hasn’t worked for me, either. I am so disappointed. I have also unistalled and reinstalled the game, restarted my phone several times and nothing. Just continues to go back to the icon on my phone screen. Please fix this soon. I haven’t missed a date since launch in November.

    This solution didn’t work at first. But after a second try, it worked and fixed the issue. For those that are having trouble here is what I did..which may help.

    Close all running processes of the game before doing the above steps. On an iOS device – press the home button twice or swipe up from the dock..To bring up the multi-tasking screen. Then close the animal pocket camp game/app window by swiping up. Then head back to the home screen and select settings.

    Now follow the above steps.

    Follow step 1 above. After selecting add a language..select English (Important step: make sure to have a check mark) Then select keep English. The device will say loading language. When it returns start the game. You Will be prompted to select a language and all should be fine now. Start and install any updates.

    I can confirm that this method works and it fixed the blue, red, screens of death. Hope this helps!

    Didn’t work when I changed the language to Japanese, but when I changed the iPhones main language to Australian English instead of just adding a secondary language, it started up perfectly.

    I read this thread again after my first attempt did not work and did as the others. I added a different language Australian English . Then changed back to English. That will work. Had to play around with it.

    This only worked for me in a certain way, instead of adding a language, I had to change my actual iPhone language. Then the game fixed itself and began its update! Happy this worked!!

    My daughter keeps trying to update Animal Crossing Pocket Camp on her phone. It only gets to 70% of the download and quits. So it won’t finish updating, and she can’t open it. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue, and how to fix it. Thanks.
