There’s no denying that Cave Story has made its mark in the minds of those who’ve played it. The explorative, platformer-shooter hybrid with narrative to spare has found a new home on the Switch, and we know that main character Curly Brace will be making an appearance in the upcoming fighting game, Blade Strangers. But what’s the other lead character, Quote, up to these days?

The above animation shows a new 3D model of Quote, with no word on what it’s for. It can’t be Blade Strangers, what with that game’s style veering towards more natural proportions — but maybe a different fighting game has the answer.
This is all speculation at this point, but the rumor is he may find his way into Brawlout, recently revealed as coming to the Switch. That announcement came along with Hyper Light Drifter from the game of the same name as a guest playable character, and it looks like there’s still a few characters to be announced in the fighters section. Quote looks like he could fit right in and would have a lot of firepower to bring to the table.
Once we know what this is for we’ll make sure to let you know if it’s coming to the Switch. In the meantime, it’s fun to remember just how great Cave Story is.
