A few days ago we reported on the massive success of the Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the US, courtesy of an NPD report.

Now NPD analyst Mat Piscatella, via VentureBeat, has pointed out another interesting fact. Once the latest game’s sales are factored in, Mario Kart is “the all-time best-selling racing franchise in the US.” This means it’s edging out the likes of Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, Forza and much more.

Another interesting tidbit he offers is that Gamepad sales are up 9% compared to April of last year, with the Switch Pro Controller being the number one best seller in that category.

It just goes to show that the pure fun of frantic kart racing still holds up. We’ll be sure to keep you informed of future financial revelations in the months to come.
