News was teased for Sonic Forces yesterday, and Sega delivered in a way I wouldn’t have imagined. The latest look at the Switch-bound high speed platformer revealed that it doesn’t feature a new character, but instead the ability to create your own custom hero to fight alongside Classic and Modern Sonic. Check out the two trailers below to get a glimpse of the customization options and gameplay, as well as a look at what may be the marquee design of this custom hero in a cutscene.
It looks like the character may not have Sonic’s speed, Tails’ flight or Knuckles’ strength, but it will be able to handle gadgets to get around stages. A grappling hook is shown, along with a flamethrower-type weapon to handle Eggman’s robots. With just how villainous mechanical modifications are in this series, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out in a world taken over by the Blue Blur’s mustachioed menace.
