Last week Square Enix held an event in Japan to announce the release date of Dragon Quest XI in the region. We previously covered the various trailers on show, as well as the surprise announcement of a 3DS/PS4 version bundle, but we didn’t have access to the full event.

Now, however, Square Enix Japan has uploaded it in full. Naturally it’s best to watch with an understanding of Japanese, but it’s fun to see the almost tangible excitement the franchise generates in its home country. There are also some extended gameplay clips for those interested, starting at the 23:30 point.

Dragon Quest XI will launch on 3DS and PS4 on July 29th, and the Switch at an undetermined point. A western release of Dragon Quest XI has yet to be confirmed, but we’ll be sure to let you know if and when it is!

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
