Well this is a surprise! After yesterday’s confirmation of Samurai Shodown IV for the European Switch eShop next week, another Neo Geo classic has slipped under the radar, releasing this week no less – Alpha Mission II.

A vertical shooter released in 1991, Alpha Mission II is the second and final game in the short-lived SNK series that started way back in 1985. Like many vertical shooters of the era, you can shoot at enemies in the air and on the ground, and collect myriad power-ups. The original game had 2 player Co-Op, so there should be some fun Joy-Con times to be had with friends.

Alpha Mission II hits the European eShop as part of the Arcade Archives series this Thursday, April 6th. A US release will likely happen on the same date or soon after, going by previous releases.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
