Earlier today, we reported that the anticipated mobile installment of Animal Crossing was delayed into the next fiscal year in order to accommodate for other releases. Now, thanks to an investor meeting that just wrapped up in Japan, we know why. It appears that Nintendo plans to focus on the Android version of Super Mario Run, which launches in March, rather than attempt to release two titles in the same month.

While we had previously said that we planned to launch the title by the end of March 2017, because the Android version of Super Mario Run will now be launching in March, we are changing the distribution period to next fiscal year so we can prepare all the content we wish to include and properly support the distribution of this application.

While this news surely comes as a disappointment to many fans, at least we have a solid reason as to why the title was delayed. Most of us will probably be preoccupied with Fire Emblem Heroes by that time anyway!
