Despite first releasing all the way back in July of 2022, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has managed to continue to get new content all the way into 2024. The final wave of the Expansion Pass has long been available, but thanks to the Noah & Mio amiibo, it took until now to finally tie the ribbon on the gift that is Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

What changes are in the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 2.2.0 the update?

The update itself really only covers on thing and one thing only: amiibo functionality, according to the official patch notes. For those of you hoping to get more story content or game modes, you may be just a tad disappointed.

How do I access amiibo functionality in Xenoblade Chronicles 3?

Thankfully, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has some of the easiest to access amiibo use around. Once you open the main menu, you’re given the option to scan in amiibo. That means you’re not required to get through early game areas or to play up to a certain point — you can simply open the game’s main menu once you’re in control, enter the “System” sub menu, and you’ll find the “amiibo” option!

What do the Noah and Mio amiibo unlock in Xenoblade Chronicles 3?

The Noah amiibo will allow players to change Noah’s outfit to match Consul N’s, as well as costume variations for Noah, Eunie, and Lanz without their jackets.

Likewise, the Mio amiibo will give the option for Mio to dress as Consul M, and for Mio, Sena, and Taion to ditch the jackets as with the Kevesi party members.

Which other amiibo unlock content in Xenoblade Chronicles 3?

Shulk amiibo in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Scanning the Super Smash Bros. Shulk amiibo will get you the unique Monado weapon skin. This skin is only usable by characters employing the Swordfighter class, but can be put on as many Swordfighters as you like at the same time. Again, this is only a cosmetic — no unique stats or benefits are provided by the Monado as it appears here. You’ll find it in the Clothing section of the Characters menu, along with any other attachments (such as via the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass DLC).

Please note that you can only customize clothing once you reach Chapter 3 in the story, which means you can only equip the Monado at that point.

Pyra and Mythra amiibo in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Not only that, but if you have a Pyra and Mythra amiibo, players will be able to unlock Aegis sword skins for use in the game; each one representing Pyra or Mythra.

Special thanks to Ricky Berg for his expertise on amiibo functionality regarding the Monado.
