The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD introduces tons of changes and quality-of-life improvements over the original Wii game. Aside from HD graphics and new controls, the refreshed Nintendo Switch adventure also includes amiibo support! Specifically, amiibo support for a figure made specifically for Skyward Sword HD: the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo. Here’s what it does in the game.
What does the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo do in Skyward Sword HD?
Tapping the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo when you’re on the surface allows Link to instantly teleport to the skies atop his trusty Loftwing. Tapping the amiibo again in the air allows Link to teleport back to the same spot on the surface where you first used the amiibo. This also works in dungeons!
Does the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo work in other games?
Typically, when a new amiibo is released with an existing character on it, it will function in any game that character works in. That being said, it is likely that Zelda & Loftwing will also function as a Princess Zelda amiibo in other titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Hyrule Warriors.
Do other amiibo work in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD?
According to the official Skyward Sword HD webpage, no other amiibo will function in Skyward Sword HD.
