In New Pokémon Snap, there aren’t just Pokémon to photograph and Photodex to complete! The game is filled with a slew of unlockables – profile icons, photo editing tools (filters, frames, and stickers), and Research Titles. These elements will help make your profile stand out in New Pokémon Snap’s online features. Some will be available from the start, but Research Titles aren’t! As you work with Professor Mirror, Rita, and the rest of the L.E.N.S. research team, you’ll earn research titles when you hit specific milestones. When unlocking some Research Titles, you’ll also unlock profile icons and/or photo editing tools.
To “equip” a research title, you’ll want to go to the game’s Lab menu (“Lab” -> “Your Space” -> “Research Titles”). There, you can also view the progress you’re making with some locked Research Titles.
How many Research Titles are in New Pokémon Snap?
There are 136 unlockable Research Titles in New Pokémon Snap as of Version 1.1. They’re split into six categories: Actions, Online, Photodex, Photography, Research, and Technique.

Unused Research Titles
Thanks to a publically released datamine, a complete list of titles and associated images were available at launch. While compiling the guide, the following research title images were discovered, but they aren’t obtainable in-game as of Version 1.1.
Based on appearance, these unused Research Titles are related to Pokémon reacting to the Melody tool (Photography), collecting 100 1* (Bronze) and 2* (Silver) photo evaluations (Photography), photographing all Ruins and Crystablooms (Photodex), Fluffruit (Action), Melody tool (Action), and Illumina orbs (Action).
