Way back in May, before the launch of the game proper, Nicalis announced that its upcoming Switch port of Cave Story+ would be getting a local co-operative mode in “late Summer.” Now that time has finally arrived and we have a confirmed date for the update – September 15th.

In the tweet we can see Quote and Sue the Mimiga teaming up, which is interesting as the only playable characters before now were Quote and Curly. We’ll just have to wait and see if and how the co-op impacts the story.
