Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but a man in Japan was recently arrested after making bomb threats against Nintendo HQ in Kyoto, Japan. As reported by KTV News, on May 12th, a 27 year-old man was detained on suspicion of sending threatening letters to Nintendo. An unemployed individual living in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture, he had been sending letters dating back to March 2026 with messages such as, “I’m going to blow you all up,” and, “My plans cannot be thwarted.”

Nintendo initially reported this to local police on March 16th, which led to authorities searching the area for any suspicious items. Thankfully, nothing was found, but the man has since admitted to the charges brought against him. He is currently under investigation for a motive, though I’m struggling to even figure out why he might send threats like this to a video game company. Maybe he got mad at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?

If you’ll remember from a few years back, Nintendo had to cancel some of its live events in early 2024 over threats sent via the inquiry form on its website. Coincidentally, those threats were also carried out by a 27 year-old Japanese man, who stated he was “stressed by playing the game.” I’m not sure what it is about Nintendo that makes people go bananas, but at least no one was hurt during any of this.
