Releasing last week for PC, Mewgenics has quickly become another smash-hit for Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac director Edmund McMillen. A long gestating project created with Isaac co-director Tyler Glaiel, Mewgenics has shot up the Steam charts as one of the most played roguelikes of all time on the platform. Clearly, people love it, but not everyone has a PC available to them for playing games. Thankfully, a console port for the game is in the works according to McMillen.

On Twitter, a fan asked McMillen how soon players could expect to see a console release for Mewgenics. “Working on it now,” he wrote. “Not sure when it will be done though but at this point it might be in Dev for all systems.” Later, he clarified in this own post that a console port is happening, as well as DLC at some point in the future.

As for what platforms we could expect the game on, it’s likely a safe bet that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 are in the cards. The Binding of Isaac is available on pretty much everything, including a native Switch 2 port, and even Super Meat Boy saw belated ports to PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Switch. While it’s uncertain if Mewgenics will hit Switch 2 in 2026, it’s more likely to be on Nintendo’s next-generation device than not.
