It’s been almost two years since the Pokémon main series saw any new content, and fans are more eager than ever for something new to arrive. With the latest entry in the series, Pokémon Legends: Z-A just a few months away, the wait won’t have to be much longer. To help pass the time, a new trailer has been released with some new information as part of today’s Pokémon Presents. Now with a more in-depth look at what there is to do in Lumiose City, there’s even more to be excited about!
Much like Pokémon X & Y, the character customization options available in Pokémon Legends: Z-A are very in-depth. Lumiose City isn’t all about fashion though; there are ways to spend your time beyond that. Amid catching Pokémon and exploring by day, there’s also the Z-A Royale by night, in which the newly-revealed Rust Syndicate can be encountered as the player ranks up. It doesn’t end there though – those who want to take a break from battling through the ranks can instead help Emma with her detective work by helping people around the city.
As exciting as the new features coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A are, the main focus of the game is definitely the return of Mega Evolution. For the first time in over a decade, a brand-new Mega Pokémon has been revealed. Mega Dragonite, with features resembling its pre-evolution Dragonair such as wings on its head and a pearl on its tail, will be making its debut as the first of likely several new Megas to be included in the game. These Mega Pokémon can be used to take on boss battles against Rogue Mega Evolutions across the city as well, so there’s lots of ways to enjoy their return.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A release date
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set for release on October 16th, 2025. It will be available on both the original Nintendo Switch as well as the Nintendo Switch 2, with an upgrade pack available for the Switch version. Both versions are available for pre-order right now, so if today’s new trailer has you excited to return to Kalos this fall, be sure to check it out!
