As Deadline reported this morning, Australian actor Uli Latukefu has been cast as Ganondorf in the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film. A relative newcomer to the scene, Latukefu’s first film role was as Cole in Alien: Covenant. He has been steadily employed since, sticking mostly to TV shows, but landing appearances in Black Adam, Next Goal Wins, and MaXXXine. While Sony couldn’t confirm details to the outlet, sources revealed the casting with certainty.
A few hours later, the outlet also got wind of some other actors joining the cast. These include Dichen Lachman, who will be playing Impa, Yvonne Strahovski, and the late Sam Neill. Sam Neill really needs no introduction as he was one of the main stars of Jurassic Park, one of the biggest films of all time. He sadly passed away on July 13th, 2026, from complications of pneumonia after battling blood cancer for a few years. Strahovski, meanwhile, is known for her role on the TV show Chuck and for modeling/playing Miranda Lawson in the Mass Effect games.

What’s curious are the details leaked from the film. Strahovski is said to be playing a queen character, which is possibly Queen Hyrule (someone never seen or mentioned in any of the games). That could point to Sam Neill being King Hyrule, which would be incredibly awesome to see. Since we know Impa is in the movie from Lachman’s casting, that could also imply that Zelda will be masquerading as Sheik at some point. There are so many unknowns currently, though the film is due to release in less than a year. We’re bound to see something soon, especially if casting details are starting to seep through the cracks.
