One of the bigger surprises during today’s Nintendo Direct was the news that Capcom has joined together with Marvel yet again to (re)license some of their arcade classics. For fighting game fans this is fantastic news and no doubt opens the floodgates for “MvC4 When” type discussions, but Capsule Computers is taking things even deeper into the fault with some deep cuts for what’s being called the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics.

The big get here is Marvel vs. Capcom 2, a fighting game that (at the risk of hyperbole) defined a generation and stands out as one of the best examples of a crossover in all of video games.

The full lineup also includes the following:

  • X-Men: Children of the Atom
  • X-Men vs. Street Fighter
  • Marvel Super Heroes
  • Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
  • Marvel vs. Capcom
  • The Punisher

No specific release date was given, but fans can look forward to this celebratory super hero slugfest when it arrives later in 2024.
