What many assumed to be the case is now confirmed, as Mario Strikers: Battle League has revealed that it’ll be running with a free post-launch update style of longevity. This has been the norm for a lot of Switch titles at this point, including fellow Mario sports titles Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush, as well as competitively minded games like ARMS and Splatoon.

No details on specifics other than that new characters will be a part of these updates, and good thing too. While it’s amazing to see much of the Mushroom Kingdom’s core cast step back onto the pitch, the current lack of Daisy is most disturbing. Beyond her, who knows who could be lacing up, though the series has hosted the likes of Bowser Jr., Diddy Kong, and Petey Piranha in the past.

Beyond characters, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a whole lot of gear get added over time, to let players customize their characters both statistically and stylistically with even more options. Whatever the case, all this newness won’t be on the way until Mario Strikers: Battle League kicks off on June 10th.
