The base level Switch Online subscription thought it could mask its true nature by releasing ⅔’s of the Mother series, and here we are again with a trio of not-so-Nintendo titles. At least this time all three of them have a level of recognition and history, leading off with a groovy guy that rockets through the sky.
Earthworm Jim 2 is our lone Super Nintendo get, flanked by two retro Namco classics (for the NES) in the form of Dig Dug II and Mappy-Land. Funnily enough, none of these series’ first installments are currently available on the service. What we have here then is a rare occurrence of three sequels coming together to generate the collective response of “Okay, but where’s Super Mario RPG?”
Japan, on the other hand, has left Jim in the dirt and let something else crop up. The original Harvest Moon is coming to the service, giving fans that farming life they so desire. While overseas omissions are nothing new for these apps, time will tell if Bokujo Monogatari can overcome any branding hurdles to join the NA collection.
All of these will be available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers today.
