Nintendo Switch Sports, announced during last month’s Nintendo Direct presentation as a successor to the 2006 smash hit Wii Sports, has a variety of new sports categories not seen in its predecessor. As well as the returning Bowling and Tennis games (with Golf confirmed to arrive in a future update), the reveal trailer showed us Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton, and Chambara. If a recent finding within the game’s data is anything to go by, we may also see Basketball and Dodgeball added to this list.
Twitter user @Wipeoutjack7 shared code with text references to both sports. As the user speculates, it could simply be remnants of content that was scrapped during the game’s development process, but it may also possibly hint at Basketball and Dodgeball arriving in future updates.
Another interesting thing found while datamining Switch Sports, the game references both "Basketball" and "Dodgeball" alongside the other playable sports. Could very well just be scrapped content, but mayyybe a potential future update? pic.twitter.com/mJb4SbaYM4

Last month, Nintendo held Online Play Test sessions for the game, allowing users to participate in games of Tennis, Bowling, and Chambara via online matchmaking.
