A few days ago, Nintendo of Europe lowered the price of the base Nintendo Switch model from €329.99/£279.99 to €299.99/£259.99 in anticipation of the upcoming release of the Switch OLED model. However, those hoping a price drop would follow suit here in North America might be disappointed.

Nintendo told Axios Gaming’s Stephen Totilo that the price adjustment is only for Europe, with no plans to change the price in the US. The price drop was caused by currency exchange rates, as well as the upcoming OLED release. The European Switch prices were some of the highest, so this seems to be Nintendo of Europe trying to bring their prices in line with the cost of the system globally.

The Switch OLED releases on October 8th, 2021 worldwide.
