After promising to release a patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 that improves image quality a few weeks back, CD Projekt Red is happy to announce that version 5.01 is now available on Nintendo’s latest console. As expected, the biggest tweaks are “adjustments to image sharpening and resolution,” which should help fix image quality issues people have had with the Switch 2 port. There’s also the nice benefit of cross-save functionality being restored since the version numbers are the same between platforms.

The patch notes cover each version of the game, but specific Switch 2 notes include the following:

  • Made adjustments to image sharpening and resolution to improve visual clarity and fidelity.
  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur when changing between in-game regions.
  • Optimized cache handling for Cross-Platform Mod Support.
  • Fixed an issue where HD Rumble could only be felt in the left Joy-Con 2 when climbing a ladder.
  • Fixed an issue where map pins could be placed on the black bars surrounding the map.

CDPR mentions that the Japanese version of this update is a little delayed as it has yet to pass certification on the eShop. It should be coming shortly, though most people playing in the US won’t have to worry about that. The rest of the patch notes seem like particularly minor issues, though the overall tweak to light intensity was certainly needed. I understand this remaster is meant to be a newer look for the game, but the art direction took an almost radically different appearance from the original version instead of just being a visual upgrade.
