PlatinumGames boss Atsushi Inaba has teased what he envisions regarding the future of the Bayonetta series, as well as what he thinks of the Nintendo Switch 2.

In an interview with Japanese gaming publication Famitsu, Inaba was joined in the discussion by Shift Up founder Kim Hyung Tae. PlatinumGames and Shift Up recently collaborated to bring Bayonetta costumes to Stellar Blade.

Following Tae’s discussion on the challenges of working on the Switch 2’s Stellar Blade port, Inaba was asked if he could relate. Despite PlatinumGames having yet to release a game on the console, Inaba said that the Switch 2 has “so much potential” (according to a translation by Nintendo Everything).

Famitsu then asked Inaba if there are plans to continue the Bayonetta series. While he didn’t reveal anything concrete, Inaba seems to at least have a future in mind for the franchise.

“Well… I can’t really answer that at the moment,” Inaba laughed.

“As for Bayonetta, I strongly feel that I want to expand her as a character and broaden her world. Please wait to see exactly what shape that will take.”

Inaba served as producer on Bayonetta 2, and executive producer on Bayonetta 3 and Bayonetta Origins. He became the CEO of PlatinumGames in 2021.

Following his departure from PlatinumGames in 2023, Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya said in 2025 that he would have liked to continue the series if he had remained at the company.
