Konami has released a demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse across PC and consoles, but there is a curious omission in the technical details when it comes to the Nintendo Switch port. Weeks back, Konami posted a chart noting that the latest installment in the vampire slaying series would run at 60 fps on PlayStation and Xbox Series X|S, but 30 fps on Switch. That led people to believe playing on a Switch 2 would be inferior, but that actually isn’t the case.

Users have played the demo and, low and behold, it runs smoother on Nintendo’s latest console. Nowhere was this mentioned by Konami, and the company still hasn’t made an official acknowledgement of the upgrade. While it was confusing that a bespoke Switch 2 Edition didn’t exist, I suppose that’s not needed when the game runs better when playing on the device. Nintendo has done this with a handful of its own Switch 1 games, giving titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening a locked 60 fps with 4K output despite not releasing a native Switch 2 port.

Hopefully, this isn’t a bug in the demo that won’t make it to the final version. I don’t really believe that will be the case, especially since save data from the demo carries over to the main game. I suppose we’ll know for certain when Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse releases on October 15th, 2026. If you were holding out on the Switch version hoping for a Switch 2 upgrade, you don’t need to worry.
