Auroch Digital, publisher behind the retro FPS Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun and its upcoming sequel, has confirmed that Boltgun 2 will be releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime later in 2026. While the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S version will hit digital storefronts on October 14th, Switch 2 users will need to wait a little bit before getting their hands on the game. That’s perfectly fine, though, as the Joy-Con 2’s native mouse support will likely make this port the definitive console version.
In addition to confirming a release date, Auroch also announced that composer Mick Gordon will be providing at least one song for the game’s soundtrack. Mick Gordon has been working in games for quite some time, but he started to gain prominence after writing the OST for 2013’s Killer Instinct. He would explode in popularity for this DOOM 2016 soundtrack, which was followed up with an ever better score for DOOM Eternal. In the years since, he has been keeping himself busy working in the indie space, though did write music for one of Diablo IV’s trailers.
If you want to catch up on the series, the first Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is currently available on the eShop for $8.79. It’s a solid enough game, evoking boomer shooter tropes while injecting a bit of modern Doom into them. The levels can be a bit meandering and the arsenal isn’t balanced well, but the visuals do an excellent job of capturing the brutal charm of Warhammer 40,000.
