It’s been a long time coming, but developer IO Interactive is nearly ready to debut 007 First Light running on Switch 2. After announcing it was delaying the game into summer 2026 back in April, IO has now posted an image on social media confirming it will have a playable build of James Bond’s return to video games at Nintendo’s Gamescom 2026 booth. For those keeping track, this will be the first time we’ve even seen the Nintendo Switch 2 version in any capacity, let alone from a trailer perspective.

I’m not too familiar with the layout of the Gamescom show floor, but Nintendo’s booth is located in Hall 9.0. IO’s image doesn’t really give you a good lay of the land, but it seems to be in the upper corner (next to maybe an exit?). Either way, 007 First Light hasn’t been canceled on Nintendo’s hybrid platform, and is probably close to release judging from this. Gamescom 2026 is taking place next week from August 26th-30th, 2026, in Cologne, Germany, so attendees are bound to get some answers regarding the state of the game.
As for how First Light has performed on other platforms since launching in May, IO Interactive told IGN in June that Bond’s latest globe-trotting adventure had sold three million copies in roughly a week and a half. IO CEO Hakan Abrak said, “I’m feeling absolutely amazing,” with regard to such explosive early performance. It quickly became IO’s fastest-selling title, which is pretty astonishing considering how successful the recent Hitman games have been.
