It’s nearly the end of summer, and with that comes Gamescom. Gamescom 2026 is set to take place in Cologne, Germany from August 26th-30th, 2026, though its opening festivities will stream live on August 25th. As part of Opening Night Live, publisher Square Enix has announced that a “New Look” at Final Fantasy VII Revelation will debut with director Naoki Hamaguchi presenting the details.

In a post on Twitter, an image lays out the details for us. The presentation is said to begin at 11 a.m. PT | 2 p.m. ET | 7 p.m. BST | 8 p.m. CEST, and it will include new footage from Revelation. That’s… about it. I wish we had more to go on, but Square Enix is purposely keeping things vague for now. I imagine the presentation will be more than a few minutes long, though I don’t believe it will be an extended look as its part of the regular Opening Night Live event. As big as Final Fantasy is, it can’t monopolize an entire stream for itself.

As for the game itself, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be releasing in Spring 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix can’t confirm if a physical edition will happen, though Hamaguchi wants to make on.
