Activision has revealed when Nintendo Switch 2 owners can expect to place pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, as well as partake in an upcoming Open Beta Weekend.
Pre-orders for the Switch 2 version will begin on August 26th, while the beta test will start on August 28th.
The beta will include 19 playable weapons and a variety of maps, ranging from small 3v3 battles to large skirmishes featuring vehicles. Modes include the returning Search & Destroy as well as the new, fast-paced Kill Block, which is focused on close-quarters combat. A Training Mobility Course is also available to teach players the ropes.
A “Call of Duty: Next” broadcast will air on August 21st, “featuring live gameplay, an in-depth briefing on the lineup of content coming to Modern Warfare 4’s Multiplayer, developer insights, and new reveals ahead of the Beta.”
After the Next event concludes, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC owners can also partake in the Early Access Beta from August 21st to the 25th. This will not be available on Switch 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 release date
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 23rd, 2026.
The director of the upcoming live-action Call of Duty film revealed this week that it will take place within the series’ Modern Warfare universe. The movie will be released in theaters on June 30th, 2028.
