The director of the upcoming live-action Call of Duty film has revealed that it will take place within the series’ Modern Warfare universe.
As reported by Variety, director and co-writer Peter Berg made the announcement during a “Call of Duty in Culture Panel” at Fanatics Fest in New York City.
The Modern Warfare storyline, which began with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007, took the series into a modern setting, departing from the World War II setting of its predecessors.
Distributed by Paramount Pictures and co-written by Taylor Sheridan, the Call of Duty movie will be released in theaters on June 30th, 2028.

As for the game series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 23rd, 2026.
