To a certain generation of people, the voices of Star Fox 64 have become iconic. Hearing Peppy say, “Do a barrel roll,” or laughing as Slippy shouted for help were formative moments during the early days of the N64’s life. It’s with a heavy heart that I share that one of the actors behind those legendary voices, that being Wolf O’Donnell’s, has passed away.

As reported by Wyoming’s K2 Radio, Jock Blaney passed away sometime in March 2026 from an undisclosed cause. He was reportedly 76 years old and had a very long career in radio. While he only voiced Wolf O’Donnell and Bill Grey in Star Fox 64, he did lend his voice to a wide range of different games over the years, including both No One Lives Forever games, a few Professor Layton titles, and the first two FEAR games. He seemingly had a good partnership with the now defunct Monolith Productions, which was formally one of the best PC developers around.

I can’t top the touching tribute that K2’s Bob Price gave, so I’ll simply leave it at this: Mr. Blaney, your work was appreciated, and you were well-loved by those around. May you find peace in the afterlife and may your family never forget the kindness you bestowed upon them. Rest in peace.
